One can only imagine how any of Merv Griffin's older female fans would react to picking up this book! The Merv depicted in it is 180 degrees from the charming, cuddly, "safe" TV persona he projected for all those years on his talk show(s.) The book is good at relating the course of Griffin's career from big band boy singer to wannabe movie star to radio and TV host and finally to talk show icon and wealthy production and real estate kingpin.
Where the books falters (yet simultaneously captivates, fascinates and shocks) is in its endless, utterly outrageous parade of sexual encounters with, literally, every dead star ever to come out of Hollywood!!

(Naturally, Merv never dallied with folks who were/are still alive as the book went to print such as Robert Wagner, Hugh O'Brian, Chad Everett, John Saxon, Tab Hunter, Robert Fuller, and so on... Had these men been deceased while the book was being compiled, the author would surely ha
